Additional opportunities to support the competition and your favorite contestant
January 1 , 2010
This year, we will be incorporating two new ideas for the finals competition.
First, the program for the competitions will be altered this year to allow for printing personal ads by individuals. The personal notes will be printed in the program for all to read and will be a hard copy momento of your loudest cheer and support for your contestant.
Click here for copy of the Spotlight program ad return form.
Second, we will be offering an additional cash prize totaling $100 for any contestant who collects the most corporate sponsorship for the competition. We will be offering this opportunity to any student who wishes to help us spread the word to individuals or businesses and collect their information for sponsorship. The student who gathers the most corporate sponsorships for the competition will win this additional prize money. Students with any questions about their participation in this part of the competition may send an email to spotlight@heritagearts.org.
Below are the letters you need to present to the potential sponsors - the letter explains the importance of their participation as a sponsor, and the Info form is to be returned with their check.

Description of judging categories modified
January 1 , 2010
The three categories that will be judged during both preliminary and final competitions are Talent (20 points), Stage Presence (5 points), and Appropriate Appearance (5 points). The modified name of the third judging category was changed to relay the focus on appropriate dress/appearance the judges are asked to judge. In the judges' information packets, they are told not to focus on elaborate costumes, make-up or props, but instead to award points in the Appropriate Attire category on just that - is the contestant's appearance appropriate for their performance.
Applications and information mailout is complete
January 1 , 2010
The producers of the competition have mailed out over 800 applications, information cover letters and flyers to many public and private Pasco schools, studios and teachers throughout the area. In addition to the music and studio teachers, you can download the application form yourself here.

Changes for 2008 Spotlight on Talent final competition
January 3, 2008
This 25th SILVER anniversary competition will be very special, because of a new expanded format. The last few years have been record-breaking for “Spotlight on Talent”. Several hundred students participate each year, with judges evaluating up to 126 different acts.
